TCE collection
1st of December is International AIDS Day.
It's a tradition in our school, that at that special day we go out on the streets and help collect donations for project Total Control of Epidemics (TCE) that Humana People to People is leading in countries, where AIDS is still a major problem.
This year two big groups departed from our school on the streets - youngsters from the small school with their teachers and DIs from August Team 2011.
We started our action at the very early morning. Just after breakfast we grabbed magazines with information about our action, cans for donations, we prepared some food for lunch and coated ourselves in jackets, gloves and hats. We journeyed to two big cities in our area - Vordingborg and Naestved. Streets were full of people, so we quickly spread ourselves around the center of the city.
Except high spirit and determination, we were equipped with red balloons in shape of hearts - little something to make ourselves more visible and gain sympathy of citizens. For that day we set ourselves quite high goals and we were eager to reach them.
 
We had only one enemy - weather.
It was quite cold and windy that day and afternoon we have also experienced a bit of rain. But people were very friendly and warm - as usual in Denmark. Most of them were aware of our action and they knew what 1st of December is all about. Those people were sometimes even by themselves looking for us and our donation cans, so they could contribute their kronas.
With others we had brief, but educating conversation, during which we were explaining what the whole idea of our action is about and how their donation can help people in Africa. Though at the end of the day we didn't reached our goal, it was a great time that we had on the streets - people were friendly and open, donations generous and all around us there were pedestrians (mainly children) and their red balloons jumping on the wind.
It was very heartwarming view to see how many people supported our projects and sent help to those in biggest need.
We strongly believe that our action will help at least a little bit in fight against AIDS and HIV.
We are proud that we are part of this fight, that we can do something against this problem. And even with this smallest steps, we can make a big difference.

"Forces That shape the World"
August team 2011 had a great Open House & People's Examination on 27th of October.
There were a lot of rich and gripping presentations about the another kind of school - DRH Lindersvold and its programs as well as our investigation results under the "Forces That shape the World".

Take action against HIV/AIDS
One of the programs element is different kind of action weeks, when DI’s has to take action against something of for something. Our team topic for last action week was “Take action against HIV/AIDS”. United Nations have agreed about 8 Millennium Development goals. Adopted by world leaders in the year 2000 and set to be achieved by 2015, the MDGs are both global and local, tailored by each country to suit specific development needs. And one of the these goals, Nr.6 is “Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases”.
So, April team 2010 put the target- to touch Danish population and inform them about fight against HIV/AIDS, to tell them about the disease and ways, how we can stay against it, how we can help ourselves and others. One of our posters said: “Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it's not there”. Two of our team mates went to Germany -Cindy and Raul- to look sites for clothes collection containers. Clothes, which are collected in these containers are sent to cloth shops in Europe and Africa. The income of shops, which are located in Europe, are donated to our projects in Africa. These projects are related to combating the HIV/AIDS in Africa. We are very happy that Cindy and Raul managed to put April team 2010 contribution in this fight.
The rest - Davis, Rolands and Liene - made action in Copenhagen centre. We touched around 700 hundred people. With some of them we had nice conversations, some of them, in the daily life rush, just took bookmarks and AIDS “pins”, which we made before. Also we made HIV test and encouraged others do the same! Our goal was to make people think, to destroy common unconcern about HIV/AIDS, because it’s our all responsibility not only Africans problem.
