THE STUDENTS
Anyone can participate in the volunteer program at Lindersvold. Students come from many different countries and many different backgrounds. You can meet some of them here.
OCTOBER 2000 TEAM - This team will be in Guinea Bissau and Angola from April 2001 until October 2001.
Heather Burns 60 years Universal (German/Irish) Africa has been in my heart since childhood. This is my 4th attempt to go to Africa and I am determined to go this time. I also see this time of preparation here in Lindersvold and later in Africa as a time of inner growth. Living in a global community is lots of fun: teaching, learning and sharing. I am grateful to be here in good health, open-minded & able to follow my dream. Thank You to all involved. Thank You to all the people in Ireland & Germany who have supported me so far...please continue with the fundraising. |
Hazel Maglantay 27 years Australian (born in the Philippines) I decided to join HUMANA because I ran out of money from travelling. Just kidding...I am pleased to finally find a worthy cause to devote my time & energy into. I´ve seen a lot from travelling but I feel this is going to be THE experience of a lifetime. In my time here at Lindersvold, I hope to further develop my growth & understanding of the world, the issues facing it, the people & their culture. My team, October 2000 will kick butt!!! Can´t wait to get some sun in Africa, my tan is fading & Denmark is too bloody freezing... Hello to all my lovely friends & family, missing you all. |

Henriika Haapakoski 23 years Finnish I joined October team because of many reasons. I have just finished my social work studies (sosionomi), it is difficult to get a job, and besides that working from nine to five is not my cup of tea, not yet. I am going to Africa hoping to get some new experiences that are possibly useful later on, whatever it is I am going to do. It is better to do something good in Africa than be unemployed and useless in Finland. I am enjoying my self very much here, we have a great team! Greetings to Henri and all my friends, Henri, say hello to aiska and iska!!! I am doing very well! |
Cecilia Carlsson 22 years Swedish Hej! In Sweden media has created a bad picture of Humana. I decided to find out myself if it was true, what they said, or not. I went to an info-weekend in Juelsminde and I understood why media has been creating this picture of Humana. I decided to start the program and here I am. I´m in the October team at Lindersvold, leaving for Angola in April. As you can imagine, being with a group of people, that all have understood there is something wrong with this world and they are here to make a change, is just wonderful. If you don´t want to sit in front of the TV, feeling sorry for people that suffers, join in! |

Caralyn Pearce 25 years Australian In the beginning of the year I went on an overland safari holiday in Eastern Africa for six weeks and fell in love with the country. I was determined to go back for a much longer period and decided that I should combine travel with work. I saw an ad for HUMANA in a magazine in London and called them up. After many information meetings and seminars I now find myself in Lindersvold for the first period of 6mths. So far it is going great, my team is fantastic and I know we are going to have a lot of fun preparing for Angola/Guinea-Bissau. A big hello and thank you to my wonderful family and friends who have been very supportive...love you!!! |
Martin Christian 24 years German The most interesting at this school is that there are a lot of people from almost all over the world around. But you have to be active in contacting each other and to get the most out of it. This is the same is with the studies at the school. We don't have really "teachers" here, which could be called teachers in an European sense. So you have to decide what your gonna learn, and ask them directly. That's all I investigated the last and my first week. |

Manuel Noé 18 years Mozambican I´m a student of LINDERSVOLD and I am to follow the DEVELOPMENT INSTRUCTOR COURSE as a scholarship student. After studying in Denmark I would like to work as a development instructor in Mozambique for 6 months. |
Euan McAleece 25 years Scottish I was reading a newspaper, when suddenly there was a very bright light in the room. There before me was a strange white creature. I heard a voice in my head, the thing was communicating to me telepathically. It said to me go to Lindersvold, in Denmark, and spread the word of Humana People to people. |
