BISSORA, GUINEA BISSAU

About 6,000 people live in the city of Bissoră and the villages around. At least 70% of the population in Guinea Bissau lives in the rural areas, where the main income comes from subsistence agriculture. Most farmers produce only enough for their own family consumption, and a minimum is produced for sale and for surplus.

People can carry the most amazing number and weight of things on their head.

Typical houses in Bissora.

Donkeys are everywhere in Bissora. Women spend their time cooking, cleaning, farming, while all the time looking after their usually many children.

The downtown market is full of fresh fruit, vegetables and seafood. A typical village school.
